MA Pistol License Course^©

New!  The Massachusetts Pistol License Course has been certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (LTC-020) as meeting the training requirements for both a pistol license (LTC) and a rifle/shotgun license (FID). 

Course Goal - To teach the knowledge, skill and legal requirements necessary to own, handle and use a firearm safely. The course includes information on Massachusetts requirements for licensing, storage and transportation.

Course Objectives - Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

1. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of Massachusetts firearm regulations.
2. State the cardinal rules of safe firearm handling.
3. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of firearm nomenclature and operation, including safe loading and unloading procedures.
4. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of ammunition including operation, safe storage and ammunition failures.
5. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of shooting fundamentals.    

This course is presented in a classroom environment, and can be done at your suitable location for private groups. It is also a segment of the Multi-License course.

An optional live fire session, approved by the State as a course addendum, can be added upon request. Contact us for details.

Length of Course - The course takes approximately 5 hours to complete, depending upon the number of students participating and the number of questions that arise.

Upon Successful Completion of the Course - Participants will receive a Massachusetts Basic Firearm Safety Course Certificate (LTC-020) pursuant to M.G.L. c. 140 s. 131P and 5.15 CMR 3.00. This certificate meets the requirements for first-time license applicants.
